This week we’re going to focus in on the Praying Mantis, an insect species for which I have a great deal of esteem. Ever since that librarian told me I could read any book in the school library in the fifth grade—I found one with a praying mantis on it and read it cover to cover before returning to class. I had been enamored with them since they were first shown to me but, on that day, I found out so many remarkably quirky facts about them that I became a nuisance to anyone who mentioned the word “mantis” in my presence.
Unfortunately, I have only had a few occasions with them in the wild, including the one we spotted on our house this past week.
